Mindy Smith - "Come Around" (2007)

I told myself I would wait until December to post any Christmas music and now December is here, so here goes. I featured Mindy Smith a while back and she has now released a Christmas album entitled My Holiday. The album features several originals as well as her take on classics such as “The Christmas Song,” “Away In a Manger,” and “Silver Bells.” The feel of the album is very mellow and the originals maintain all of the elements that make her previous two albums so great. Her voice is outstanding and the arrangements are heavy on the acoustic guitar and piano which complements her voice nicely. Today’s song is the last track on the album and probably the most country sounding one as well. “Come Around” is a call for everyone to come together and remember that Jesus is the reason for Christmas, despite what advertisers would have you believe. This is a refreshing song in a time when we’re bombarded with so much commercialism. You should go ahead and add this album to your Christmas collection so you can enjoy the rest of the month. I know I will.
